About Us

UIC is committed to access to excellence and success for all students regardless of background. All of us in the development office represent that mission as we work to connect UIC with alumni and friends who share our goals.

Our advancement office is young, powerful and growing. We embrace a healthy work-life balance to include varied hobbies and interests, with marathon runners, published authors, entrepreneurs and newspaper reporters among us.

Our core central development group supports the campus-wide development team. This group is made up of the following teams:

Major Gift Officers (MGO)
Major Gift Officers connect donors from Chicago and across the country with initiatives across the campus that they’re passionate about supporting. The outright and deferred gift commitments they seek are valued over $25,000. Each MGO manages an assigned region of the country and works with one or more of UIC’s units and/or colleges to fundraise in Chicago.
Engagement and Participation
Engagement and Participation is responsible for planning, directing and implementing programs that engage alumni and friends, whether it be special events or volunteer activities.  This office also cultivates, solicits and stewards annual gifts of less than $24,999. Its staff collaborates with campus, college and unit advancement professionals to create fundraising programs, including specialized direct mail, telemarketing, on-line and mobile campaigns.
Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR)
This team creates mutually beneficial partnerships between UIC and external civic, corporate and philanthropic entities. They also work with internal teams, providing leadership and consultation to college and unit CFR giving and stewardship programs.
Donor Relations
Made of up advancement communications, donor relations, gift processing, special events and stewardship, this group implements advancement initiatives at UIC. Team members develop donor-relations strategies, create and share policies, manage UIC’s premier donor-recognition event, offer strategic counsel to the colleges and units as well as provide gift-processing services on site as an extension of UIF.
Gift Planning
These specialists help donors fulfill their philanthropic goals while meeting personal financial objectives. Gift planning officers assist the MGO’s as well as the colleges and units with strategic gift planning initiatives.
Advancement Services
This team’s business management, human resources, research and information technology specialists keep the office of advancement running smoothly on a daily basis.

Each of UIC’s 18 colleges and units has its own advancement office, which focuses specifically on its unique set of fundraising priorities. These colleges and units are:
